Wow, there is something special with these Type 1 VW 
I remember the very sparse interior and dash, all metal surfaces, and the smell...
This was, when you got to hitch a ride in one as a child.

I enclose a period picture of a Type 1. No cold starting issues with that kind of battery available  ;)

Its great fun to drive.  I enjoy it so much that I will keep it together with my Pagoda and have today sold off the other VW Splitty I had, a ’58 Transporter Van to someone in Queensland.
The VW Single Cab Ute and the Van sold off today that I had originally planned to also restore but enough is enough.

They weren’t my words, Minister of Finance said afterI bought a new house just for the garage space, that as I can only fit two in the town house garage thus there was no need for more. The Van was to be number 3, alas no more. :'(
