Title: Ecklers dash wood kits
Post by: lurtch on March 27, 2017, 23:47:34
Hi All,

Noticed this ad in the latest edition of my Ecklers catalog. Does anyone have knowledge of these items?

Are they over-glossy like the coated metal phony ones? Is the grain apparent? Is the color correct?

Is it REALLY Burlwood at this price point?

The wood would be veneer, so it's possible that it is that inexpensive, I guess. Will be interesting to see if anyone has experience with these. Eckler's does not have uniformly rave reviews when it comes to customer service.

I have a customer who bought and installed a set of the burl wood.  Great value, fit fine looks good and it seems to be real veneer. However it did have a high gloss finish. All four parts seem authentic in construction. In the end I am considering a set for my car since my wood is badly water damaged.

If not too late, yes, I have this wood in my 1970 SL and it looks great.  I'm a wood lover so really like the look, though I often lose points (1-2) in concours judging due to originality.  It leave it because I like the way it looks and, damn the judges when they pick on it.

Fit, form and function are my priorities, and I like the way it looks, so I keep it....
