I would like to wish our 250SL a happy 50th birthday, on March 23, 1967, my father in-law while on work assignment in Northern Italy (Abruzzo Region) took possession of a Light Beige and Turquoise 250SL. Seven years ago upon my wife’s father passing, we inherited the car. The car was a low #3 when we received it, and now seven years later someplace around a #2 car.
Getting the car to its current level would not have been possible with out the help of this group and the information it provides. I would like to thank several members who I have met over the years from this group, Pete Lesler, Mike Salemi, Pat Price, Jon Bernardi, countless others and especailly, Joe Alexander. Joe has worked tirelessly over the years, never saying no, always bending over backwards to help us get the car to its current state, my families sincerest thank and appreciation to Joe Alexander. We now have a family heirlom to ready pass on to our kids, which would not be possible without all your help.
The car is celebrating it’s 50th where else? In Blacklick, OH, getting a new fuel pump, new gas tank, new fuel lines, rebuilt FIP, and new fuel injectors.
A few pics from April 1967, one month after taking delivery, and some from 2017.
Thank you all once again for all your help.

Alex,
Great story there, car looks great, and an early 250SL which I think is the pinnacle of the Pagoda models.
Just love the early photos. Happy birthday to the Pagoda.

Congrats. Still love the turquoise. Great photos from the past.

Alex, great story and and what nice tribute to your late father in law. My 250SL would have been 50 years old next month. I agree with with Gerry, I love my 280SL but always preferred the 250SL. Yours looks beautiful.

Alex,
What a beautiful car and wonderful history. I too have a 113 in DB 181, only with dark brown interior. I think the turquoise interior with the blue hardtop is a close second! Just fantastic!!
Wonderful :). Happy Birthday!!

Alex, My 250 SL is also 50 years old as of February 19, 2017. I am planning on having a birthday party for her this month. I have owned her since September 1971

Happy 50th anniversary to your treasures. I have to wait to enjoy that moment 4 more years (Feb 2021).
Strange though that in 4 years all our Pagodas will be at least 1/2 century old...

This makes two 50 year old 250 SLs this month. Mine, 1543, was produced in March. Like yours, an early one with the good stuff all around. Congratulations.

Congratulations to Alex. Our cars are cousins. My vin ends in 0988 and was delivered in March of 1967. Probably made a few months earlier. Our cars know each other very well. To think that our cars came off the production line close to each other , and ended up half way around the world, in Joe's shop in Blacklick, at the same time, to be in the care of a true master. God bless Joe Alexander. I am very fortunate to have my 250sl after all of these years. Thanks again Alex , and Joe. The pagoda family is awesome. To think, that our 250's are 50 years old. Wow!

Alex,
Just a bald thought... have you consider returning with your Pagoda on the paths of your in-law..???.
Abruzzo region cruise on board of a Pagoda doesn't sound bad...

Super cool Alex! Happy Birthday to a great car with a wonderful history.
Is picture #3 at Put-in-Bay?
