Title: TYER RIMS
Post by: ohoraherecaptain on March 22, 2017, 12:37:10
Hi Guys.
I'm having my Pagoda body resprayed a deep Burgundy. Also hood-caps. My tyers have a thin white rim on them but the over all impact of the look is likely to be quite dark, so here's what I'm thinking about doing and would appreciate any feedback/thoughts on this before I take it any further.
I'm looking at adding a wider white rim to the tyer's [see example] in order to lift the look of the lower part of the car! Also see UK site: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191403741429?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

JOH,

I just went back to the narrow stripe similar to those original delivered on our cars (when white walls were ordered).  Some official MB pictures of early pagodas with the wide stripe have been posted on this forum but most believe these were never delivered on production cars.  Below find mine as originally delivered and last week with the similar narrow stripe  tires.

As Garry says, every man to his own taste.

My feeling is, it's more of an aesthetic issue than anything else?
What say you?

The definitely make the car look even more vintage. I think that this is one of the items that don't pervert the nature of car and - in case your taste changed, removing that white add-ons remains an easy option.
