Title: Pagoda World 20
Post by: MP on March 13, 2017, 10:27:50
Thank you for another excellent Pagoda World including great pictures from Italy.
My copy has a double cover, is this a new trend or is it exclusive!!

Check it out. The latest issue of Pagoda World should be in the air/sea/land!

The Italian Adventure, another (!) original owner story, a SoCal garage find, Louwman museum and more.

Do you mean it had a two sets of the printed (on harder stock) cover, or a double print of the pictures on a single cover?

If anyone else sees this or a printing issue, please post so we can follow up with the printer.

Looking forward to it Mr B! Always brightens my day, although if I've not got the rare double cover option, I might be on ebay looking for one... :o

Hi MP,

Perhaps you can take a picture of it it may be a priceless copy you have there.

Somewhat off topic, you may have a priceless PW copy :) like the 1943 US penny that collectors will pay Top dollar for. Only a few 1943 US Pennies of different materials escaped the US treasury apparently and it makes them very special almost like our Pagoda's ~grin~

Check it out ---> https://coins.thefuntimesguide.com/rare_pennies/

Hehehe ... so check your penny jaw for a 1943 US penny, that do not stick to a magnet.

Dieter

PS.

Source: The fun times guide;

Nobody really knows how the 1943 bronze penny came to be, but it’s suspected that there were between 20 and 40 combined copper planchets in the hoppers at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco mints. Somehow, those bronze planchets were accidentally fed into the coin presses.

My double cover Pagoda World

Thanks for posting. Indeed a double cover! Now you will need to keep in a protective cover as it becomes as rare and valuable as the upside down airplane stamp in the US from the early 20th century!

Got my 50 copies today of PW issue 20 that are slated for new Full Members as they sign up. I checked each and every copy no double cover in the entire bunch ... goes to show that if you do get a double cover one it will be a rare exemplar ... as rare as the Eugen Böhringer rally car nr. 39 ... I don't think so :) still as Jonny suggests keep it under a protective cover ... one never knows they may show up on eBay some day ~grin~

Dieter

Wait ... what about a tripple cover will it beat a double cover ... nah just a trick shot by Dieter no photo altering softwares involved :)

Please let me know, by PM or just post on this link if the current issue (PW20) has any problems, similar to the double cover. I got mine today, and it was missing pages 13-16.

Thanks, we want to be able to take this back to the printer.

Hi Jonny,

I checked this morning my supply of 50 copies of our PW issue 20 that I got this week for new signed up full members. From the 50 copies I found 9 copies with pages 13 to 16 missing see photos below.

First photo is correct with pages 12 and 13 showing.

Second photo is incorrect it shows page 12 on the left and continues with 17 on the right.

Best

Dieter

There have obviously been some production problems with the printing of Pagoda World #20.  It would be very helpful to know just how many of you received defective issues.  Please help us by taking a photo of the discrepancies and email the photos to PagodaBoard  @ gmail.com.  Your assistance will help us resolve this with the printer.

We will send a complete copy to replace the defective one.  Please send a note about which pages are missing and a photo if possible, to PagodaBoard @gmail.com.  Please include the mailing address you'd like the replacement copy to be sent to.

I apologize for the inconvenience.  I will let you know what happens.

Thanks,
Ray Hays

Its like the 1955 Double die penny!! (mint double pressed a quantity of pennies giving them 2 overstamped dates)
not as rare as the 43 which would be more akin to pagoda world having a "penthouse" cover
