Title: 230-280sl / automatic badging
Post by: dirkbalter on March 08, 2017, 04:12:02
Hello everyone.
I am looking for help with the original location of the 230sl / automatic badging on the left rear trunk lid. I restored the lid and have to re-drill the holes for the emblems.
If someone who has the same set up as shown in the picture, would do me a favor and take some measurements? I would appreciate that very much.
I am looking for dimensions from the lower and left lid edges to the left and underside of the emblems.
Thanks
Dirk

I believe US delivery models did not have the "automatic" badge. Was your car originally delivered somewhere else?

WRe, perfect, thank you.

GGR, yes the car came to CA from Germany in the 80th. I wasn't aware that US cars didn't have the automatic. I have also seen the automatic emblem on the right side of the lid. What determined if and where the emblems were mounted?

My Automatic was on the right side of the lid, and my car was bought here in the States.  Not sure what the prior owners did, maybe they added it, but I like it on the right for symmetry.  Purists will balk.

Hi,
there was already a thread for the measures provided by Alfred: https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=19044.msg138991#msg138991.

Thanks again. I did look in the technical manual but missed the thread.
