Advice for the seller (if he/she is reading): Change the battery hold down hardware to original parts. ;D
And this is picky, but at that price, the potential buyer might want to be picky:
Take a look at the chrome bezels around the speedo, tach, and center gauge as well as the left taillight bezel. I would expect them to be nicer.

It's hard to see the brake fluid reservoir but it looks a little too yellow to be a low mileage car. Mileage yellows the reservoir. I once owned a documented 13,000 mile car and one of the distinguishing attributes was a near pristine, original reservoir that was not yellowed. To be fair, it is possible the original was replaced and this is truly a low mileage example. Would also expect more original decals to be intact in the engine area.

When were the door pockets changed to the elastic type? The vin number is 14948. I thought the 280 SL had elastic pockets...
-
The elastic pockets are a U.S. spec item on late 250 models and all 280s according to our technical manual.

I thought the same but did not want to be too picky. If I was spending that kinda cash though I would be VERY picky. :o

John,
We agree again. I knew I wasn't the only picky person in the group !
Brad,
Yea, no problem on the hard door pockets. Our European friends got that while we got the elastic ....
So, a Euro, manual trans, 280 SL. That's a nice combo.

I saw this car when it was up for sale with the hairpin company. About 3 years ago. Had jusr sold for £140k. Being a Jersey car, it has no rear view mirrors. Only one way system iirc.
It was utterly stunning and extremely crisp.
Probably worth this money considering the Brabus and other restorer's prices.
