Title: Seat Question
Post by: bluedipper on November 24, 2004, 00:12:30
My 68 250SL was originally a white car with blue top and blue interior.  Somewhere along the line the body got painted blue, which is fine with me.  I bought a blue car and want to keep it that way.  Trouble is the car is a little too monochromatic now and I want to redo the interior in a tan or doe skin shade, which brings me to the topic.  My wife really wants headrests.  I'm thinking the seats from a later 113 with factory headrests might be a bolt up.  Am I wrong?  I could post a wanted ad in this site but I'd hate to acquire seats that don't just bolt in.

It`s quite easy to install the original
headrests in every pagoda seat. The re-
quiered parts are still available.

Chuck,

I'll defer to Tom on the ease of installing headrests in a non headrest seat; and I'll agree with your wife on the need for them; I don't feel comfortable without them.

There are 4 sets of headrests available today on eBay:

Any of the sources of leather or 'tex interiors should be able to supply you with the proper covers so they match your interior.

PS.  Don't let your wife know about 3-point retractable seatbelts, she'll want them too!! :)

Cognac and blue (light, metallic) looks good

I should know!

As for head restraints, I am too tall for mine to be much good unless I pull them way up on their runs and they look very silly

So, I prefer to risk whiplash[:0]

Too late! The 3 point belts were the first thing she asked for.  I had them installed by the dealer.  You might have read my posts about it on the Yahoo site about 3 years ago.

I've seen some modified seats with the headrests added and they didn't look factory to me.  Assuming Tom's point is that this kit will give the factory look, where can I purchase the installation kit?
