Title: 280SL 1968 Engine adjustment
Post by: Thierry du Laos on January 30, 2017, 07:19:46: I am trying to adjust the engine.
When idle is ok, if apply the brake: the RPM increase! Which is a problem when braking!!!!!
I though the engine was to rich, but if i increase air with the idle air screw, then it will stop or won't stand the gear shifting!!!!
Quite tricky between richness, gear auto, idle actuator and brake vacum????
Or do I miss something!!!!
I am going round and round....

Post by: twistedtree on January 30, 2017, 07:33:41: If the RPMs increase when you apply the break, you have a vacuum leak in your brake booster. It's a pretty common problem. The booster will need to be rebuilt.

Now the engine is fine and the brakes too.
I just need to finish the soft top to go and cruise!
