Title: It's Gone
Post by: Dave on December 30, 2016, 18:24:07
After 11 years of enjoyable ownership, I said goodbye to my beauty.  I rode some appreciating value and said goodbye.  My car was basically a survivor with one new paint job.  I had it running and looking great, but the new buyer is going spend the money to make it something more than a nice driver.  I enjoyed the experience of working on it myself, and loved the advanced engineering and great looks of this iconic vehicle.
Thanks to so many people on the Forum, who helped me with flower pot problem-solving, fuel system and ignition systems, suspension knowledge, and I don't even remember what else.  Off the top of my head, that includes Joe Alexander, Dr. Benz, Naj, and more folks who went out of their way to help me.  So much fun!
I parlayed that sale into a different German 2-seater.  Now I am a Porsche guy.  Not sure if I like being a clean hands guy now, and I can't see the engine!  Some regrets maybe, but now I'm scaring myself corner-carving instead of getting in over my head on fuel injection repairs!
Best regards to all,
Dave

So glad you enjoyed the experience, and so sad that it has ended for you.

Good luck with your new endeavor, and maybe we will see you back again!

Kindest regards.

I figured out a long time ago that I'll never be able to work on everyone's cars. Logistics aside, it's simply impossible for me to do that. To that end, I think that the next best thing is to share what knowledge I have because I believe it actually has greater value than sitting inside of my head.
These posts found on our site will hopefully be around for many years to come and my hope is that new owners not yet born will some day benefit from them. Not my posts; everyone's posts. If nothing else, it's our legacy towards new ownership and for everyone, right here, right now, today.

Speaking only for myself, I have always been happy to help where I could.

  Happy New Year everyone.

Glad that you benefited from the community Dave, good luck with your new 'Porsche adventure'.

And thanks Dan, on behalf of the community, for all you've contributed over the years. I remember your 1000th post when you said you were done, and thankfully you just kept on giving your tremendous knowledge and experience to all of us who gain confidence in knowing expert help is always there to bail us out of whatever trouble we run into in maintaining, restoring, repairing and improving these motoring icons. It is much, much appreciated.

And the same of course goes for the other experts!

Happy New Year!
