Title: New project again
Post by: Rick007 on November 22, 2016, 13:36:47
I know this is not the site but I feel as it is my home site when cars are concerned ... came across this beauty from California .
And from my own experience  I can guarantee you ... Even in California cars do rust !  Started the stripping the car to go for the blasters , so this will keep me busy the next couple of months / Years ...  Any other classic Porsche guys out there ?

Hai Peter ... Yes sold my Porsche last Year , within one hour ...  It was a big mistake and I really regretted my sale.
So I was looking for a other one with a sunroof ... Because I think a classic Porsche needs that . Not so easy to find do ..

This one has got the sunroof and is fairly (  Fairly ...as in not so rotten )  solid.  But after she gets back from soda blasting we will know more .

And in the mean time I can work on my Ferrari .... so its a in between project so to say  8)

Rick,

You are worse than me with new projects, at least mine are only cheap VW split screen Kombi’s, well at least if you consider the price of a new Merc cheap that is.

From what I have seen, there are lot of us.
I had a long nose from '86 to '96, a 1971 911S. It was my first Porsche and really launched me into the love of Porsche and German engineering.
Judging from your wheels, it looks like yours is a 912. Am I correct?
Enjoy !!

Well Gary that's thru but I'm a sucker for classic cars ...so cannot resist a car I come across. And a funny thing is that people tip you off , if they know you are in to classics ...  "Say you're into classic junk right ... I know a guy who has standing so and so " .. And these things always get me interested , and makes me to go and get a look there ....  and then I have to buy, and another project is taking space on my garage floor.

And no my friend I did do some VW's  and maybe if you work with aftermarket parts they can be restored on a budget ... But no way if you want to work with OEM parts .... especially splitty busses ... look what happened with Samba Versions !

Yes its a Porsche 912 ... Keen eye I must say.  But not all 911 came with Fuchs Rims , the early ones came with Steelies in chrome or paint also . Love these cars and their simplicity ....This one is going to be a keeper ( costs are so high that there will be no other option anymore  :)
