Title: Help Unplugging Connect On Tail Light Bulb Holder
Post by: rbouch8828 on November 16, 2016, 18:05:15
I am trying to unplug the center connector from my right rear tail light bulb holder. The other two connectors were easy, but the one in the center is not. Is there a locking mechanism? This is in a 1970 280SL.

Many thanks,

Roland

Be careful, I think there is a locking mechanism of sorts. Where you have the arrow pointing on the long side, I think that has to come out just slightly to clear the sides of the second piece.

Thanks, I tried using a screwdriver, but couldn't get it to move.

Hi Roland,
I have attached a few photos of the cover you are battling with. You should be able to see the barbs holding the cover in position.

Hi Chris,

Thanks very much. Somehow, I managed to slide the top cover off then pull out the base and after that, slide the top back on.

I don't know if I damaged the "barbs" you pictured in the process, or not. From your photos, I'm not sure where they attach to the plug.
