Most of you in the UK will probably have seen Car SOS presented by Tim Shaw with the help of mechanic Fuzz Townshend.
Not sure if this is common knowledge but they have just "restored" a pagoda for one of their future episodes.
One to look out for.

Cool
Will watch that. Or press the record button if Tamara comes home
-
Well
They didn't pretend it took 3 weeks! What a shell!
-
For us that dont get NatGeo here in North America, other markets. Here is the episode on Youtube. If the link doesn't work in the future then it was likely pulled due to copyright.

Nice tip, Tyler. Thanks :)
Re: the episode, they spend all the airtime describing the shortcomings; how it is fixed is only scantily described (more interesting IMHO)

That's because you're a gear-head
A lot of the audience likes the story, like in Extreme Makeover and it could be a 2012 Renault for all they care. Oddly enough, the Wheeler Dealer thing (annoying as it is, well, annoying as HE is) does more of the techy stuff

I´m happy to note you have me pinned down, James ;)

Thanks Tylerfor sharing the link! What a great story. It was amazing to see what the fellows did with a car that was ready to be scrapped.

It's a good programme; more about the emotion than the car itself and one of the few car programmes I like to watch. This car was indeed a basket case and whilst there are many details that were neglected or overlooked, it is still an impressive achievement.

Currently on sky channel 526.
On again on channel 527 at 9pm
Pagoda being restored.
-
Sorry, in my haste/excitement I hadn't realised yesterday's posts.
-
Does anyone know if this show is going to be broadcast in the USA?
-
I just watched this show on Kodi. The condition of that 230sl was amazingly poor. Most of the car was made up of fiberglass patches over rusted metal. It gives a new meaning to the words "Rust Bucket". The show host thought he can get it restored in a few weeks. It took months.

Two topics merged
Oddly enough, in related (and mentioned above) news, Wheeler Dealers is losing it's USP: they are heading more into the drama/jeopardy and less of the tech stuff. As a result, Edd China is leaving the show.

I've always considered the show to be utter boll locks. They buy a car for a grand, spend £500 on parts and two weeks of Ed China's time, premises and equipment, sell the car for two grand and claim to their gullible audience that they've made 500 quid profit. It's just total nonsense.
-
I can's stand the Brewer bits and the "profit" is a joke. I guess the techy bits are a bit of a busman's holiday for your evening viewing: that or they raise your blood pressure!
-
I heard that the original shell was scraped and replaced with another just before going into the
paint shop, probably realised it would be a death trap. Also heard
Ed China never got paid, just got publicity :'( Cheers Mike.
-
Really too bad Edd is leaving, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Wheeler Dealers everytime. Wonder where he will go next.
-
Hi Cees,
I think he may be starting something of his own so he can control the content. I sort of red "between the lines" so to speak from the clip when he said good bye. Time will tell I guess, let's hope for the best.

They both were real cut ups when we were on. Edd and his wife had lunch with my dad and son while we were still on the track. Both Edd and Mike and their wives were talking about house shopping in California so it sounded like they were moving there, or at least getting a place to stay long term. They seemed to genuinely like each other and talked like they were siblings. I am surprised.
Just my 2 cents

Edd should move to Santa Monica, CA, where there are plenty of Brits, and open a shop where they can film a reality show of high budget celebrity car restorations with co-host Jay Leno. I get 5% for coming up with the concept!
