does anybody has information about V8 280 SL produced
thanks

Hi Easipahi,
The 280 SL/8 does not mean it is a V8. The /8 engine was the designation for the engines fitted to the last 280 SL Pagodas.
On the left side of the block, above the oil filter of the last 280 SL is this engine insignia, "280SE/SL/8" if I remember correctly, it was not used in the US models, EU only.
According to the VIN nr you supplied, it is the 23,714th 280SL, which is very close to the last ones built. They only built 23,885.

Thanks Chris ,
do you have any idea , what is 8 is standing for ?

Hi,
afaik the 8 stands for the 8 in 1968. Today you would call it a major release change in that year for all models.

I would agree although I think the /8 indicates built after the start of model year 1968 which is really saying the same thing.

Hi,
there was also - not well known - a "/9" from May 1969 with a 3.5l V8:
- W111: 280 SE/9 3.5 Coupe und Cabriolet and
- W109: 300 SEL/9 3.5
