Title: Pagoda - What to modernise & Update? Help appreciated
Post by: Lambo_xx on October 18, 2016, 14:40:24
Hello everyone,

So quick history I recently bought a R107 500SL, which is great. At the same time my uncle bought a US Spec 280SL (Pagoda). I've driven the Pagoda on a few occasions and have decided I desperately need one.

Now, as much as I loved my uncle’s car, I did notice that (for me) performance was somewhat lacking. I'm not looking for out and out speed (I've got other cars that fit that role), I would however like to have more power, for over taking, pulling out of junctions etc.

So my first question is what options do I have? Who else has upgraded engines etc on their cars?
My next question is about the fuel injection on the car. I understand that it's a very old fashioned system & can be problematic to repair etc. Has anyone fitted a modern electronic fuel injection system to a pagoda? I've heard of people doing it to plenty of other cars & has improved performance, reliability & fuel economy.

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Thanks
:)

Read the "Research and Development (https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?board=18.0)" section of this forum in its entirety. It will tell you all you need to know.

If you have lots of money, Mechatronic (http://www.mechatronik.de/en/engineering/the-m-sl/) offers a shortcut.

In the meantime, don't get rid of you 500SL. They are the best r107.
