Title: Unknown stickers
Post by: watson2 on October 13, 2016, 14:46:27
Hi guys.
I bought the stickers set marketed by one of the vendors found on the web, and unfortunately I discovered that many of these stickers don't   belong to the model I own ( 1964, 230).

In some section of the forum I have learned where the most of the adhesives are placed on the 190SL, 250 and 280.
But I found nothing about this couple. Can you help me to understand where they are located?

The large silver aluminum one is describing "Danger, do not stow the soft top away wet", something like that.
Belongs on the inside of the soft top case above the release handle for the soft top.
Other one is not known.

Also, is your 230SL originally a german ordered one?
These soft top stickers are in different languages.

The yellow one belongs on the late 280SL type jack (with enclosed spiral).
The silver label with soft top folding instructions was fitted to the W113 until end of 250SL production. The 280SL (Dec 1967) had a different label, showing an illustration and text but positioned the same, to the left in the soft top compartment.

Note the white "glue runs"; this is original and typical.

Thank you guys.
@ Walter:  the car was ordered for Italian market and it was in Milan since the first days. A whole 52 years life almost in the same territory...
So you mean that probably the original sticker was in Italian.
And I have it in German...
And, after the message of Hans, definitely : none of the labels bought fits to an Italian 230 SL.
For curiosity I attach an image of a label , certainly original, present on the border of the trunk where you can see the message about tyre pressure in 5 languages : german, english, french, italian and spanish.
More : another certainly original label is the red one on the inner surface of the trunk lid : and it's in german only.  Hallelujah !!!

There does not appear to have been an Italian language one like this on the Italian delivery 230's so it also was in French like this Swiss one.  My 66 230SL was delivered in Italy with a French sticker.  It also was delivered with the white glue runs.
I would love to have another French one for my restoration.  Mine has the corner torn off.

My italian delivery 230SL had the same red trunk lid sticker for tire pressures in French like that of Sweden_Mike's.

Could you advise where you bought the ''silver'' sticker, in German language?
I am restoring a 230SL and would like to buy one - never seen it available anywhere I looked.

Funny, I have the German sticker for tyre pressure and the French sticker for the soft top. Ok, both are official Swiss languages. Now, I will look if I can find any Italian (also official Swiss language) sticker, as well.  :D Perhaps, I have the most equal Pagoda?  ::) ::)

Hi Igor. I bought these stickers from SLS. I attach an image so you can see the entire content of the sachet they sell.
I added numbers to make easier any further comment.

Note: in the red label the characters and lines appear black in this image, but actually they have a chrome effect
