Title: Subframe color
Post by: Lars G on September 20, 2016, 21:10:01
I am soon sending my front subframe and control arms to the paint shop and just wondering if the paint should be semi glossy black or glossy black?
Will also send the rims for painting and have the same question for them, semi glossy black or glossy black?

It is almost a cross between semi gloss and flat.

Lars, if you can hold the painter for a couple of weeks+, I will have my car dry ice blasted until then. It hasn't been repainted underneath, so the colour should match the original from factory. I'm back in Sweden from Oct 10th.

Hi,

It surely was not glossy black, so satin/semi-gloss black is correct.

When powder coating, I use a formula that is 60% gloss. It may be just a hair on the glossy side when brand new, but fades to just the perfect gloss over time. Paint gloss would be about the same scale.

Knowing a percentage makes it much easier to get the correct gloss. Common names vary too much to be accurate.
