Below is a quote from a 2004 post by Dan Caron that I ran across just now. Can he predict the future?
I could see Hillary Clinton as Pres of the USA. I could see men walking on Mars. I could see better if I wore glasses but I can't ever see Alex posting on this site......

Well..........
I predicted that once the Classic Center was fully operational the prices would double or triple in a matter of a year or two. Everyone said I was FOS - so how's my prediction doing now........... :)
I've met Alex Dearborn and yes, I wouldn't imagine him posting here but then that's hardly a prediction.

I left the last part of the message out not knowing who Alex was and whether he was a current member. I have a way of saying the wrong thing from time to time and am trying to mend my ways...

I believe it was me that said something about getting Alex Dearborn of posting something here. The topic had to do with my 5 speed transmission ?? Don't remember.
The reason I had said what I said is that Alex gave a shout out to Jim Villers on the other W113 site (Dorian's )with an invitation to stop in Kittery if he was ever in the area.

Wow, that goes back a long ways! I believe Alex sold the car to you after it once belonged to Tom Hamilton who was then the 190SL Group Pres. I worked on your car shortly before that and remember it well.
-
My car was a project car for Alex. He then campaigned the car for his new business venture and sold it to then CEO of the GAP Millard Drexler. A few year later, Millard had the car consigned. Alex sold to Tom Hamilton 190SL President. I purchased the car in late 2003 and 28 months ago sent the car to Gernold.
I hope to get it back sometime next year.

Was the car Alex sold you a 280 SL 268 exterior with a cognac interior 4 speed manual that was owned by Tom Hamilton?
-
I would say no, it's a different car. I think it's metalic beige/brown with brown leather interior but I could be wrong. I also had an off white 280SL here with green leather interior that Tom bought at BJ auction in Jan 2002.
He also bought a blue 380SL and a black 560SEC on the same day which we drove back to my place. The heater was broken on the 560 so we had to stop somewhere north of St. Louis on the third night. The car was then flat bedded about 3 hours to Indianapolis the next morning for a mono vale replacement.
We left Scottsdale on Friday around noon and arrived at my place around 8:00 PM on Monday night. I think it's over 3,000 miles - I never felt so tired after that drive. Without question, I've never traveled with anyone who pounds the road as hard as Tom.
