Title: Ugly as sin
Post by: Tyler S on July 31, 2016, 00:06:39
Why anyone would think candy apple paint would look good on these cars is beyond me. Its absolutely horrid! Really bad job of it at that.
Trying to figure out what car the bumpers came from. The rear bumpers almost look like the front doublers off a 70's sedan.

There are engine pics in the description link. Need to scroll down to bottom of listing. There is no emoticon above for "vomit". Can one be added?

The only thing this car has going for it is I do not own it. ::)

The rear bumpers are 108 overriders; the front is a base 115.  Further research indicates that the car was assembled by Johnny Cash after he quit Cadillac and took a position in Germany.

That's the closest I've seen of a 113 becoming a rat-rod.
What's next, steampunk?

Seen worse resto candidates - if it's a '63, in particular if it has the right engine/box
What was it listed for?

edit: sorry just seen the $29,500

Agree with James - on a positive note, the owner has brilliantly devalued the car to make it a better priced project for someone who wants to do the right thing by the car........if only it was a RHD!

Doesn't the fact that it was being offered by Beverly Hills Car Club explain everything?

That was a little closer to awful that I'd like to dip my toe into!  The most positive message here is that the owner/restorer made every attempt to at least replace missing parts with Mercedes bits, even if they didn't actually belong on that car.  Take a look at many photos of older cars still on the road in Cuba and you'll see similar attempts at keeping them sorta original!  One day we will be seeing lotsa dose on line...

I could imagine a musty odor, just from looking at that interior-  bed bugs??  I would be worried.  In all seriousness, it could be a good driver for someone to have fun with. All Pagodas can't look factory correct. At least it's still on the road. Different strokes, for different folks.

Putting that snazzy candy-apple red right over the rusted through rear valance panel is a real class act!
Only a fool would leave that paint on there very long! I hope he got this thing for a good price - -

No need to be snarky toward Alex he provides a good service for people who have a few dollars and big dreams.  He sells cars for a living and apparently sold this one so he proved the old adage there is a butt for every seat(Paraphrased).
