Any suggestions what to do when these bolts won't tighten?

A general tip re: the bonnet hinges.
_Avoid_ loosening the bolts at the underside of the alu bonnet (hood) (those shown in picture)
Instead, take the right vertical support iron (hinge pin) off; then pull the half-raised bonnet/hood slightly sideways, and remove.

Is the plate on the right picture what is in the bonnet cavity? I was hoping there might be access to that cavity from the attachments of bonnet spring that keeps the bonnet open.

Hi,
you have to dismount the bonnet/hood to see what's wrong. But it's a common problem: In most cases the hood is broken underneath, the underlying nut cage is rotten, so the cage nuts; See here: http://www.pagodentreff.de/diskussionsforum/t12146-k-figmuttern-motorhaube.html.
Normally you have to open the hood on one side to dismount the nut cage (fixed with two rivets) and reinstall it with new cage nuts. Because the hood is made from aluminium welding is not so easy. I've repaired it with plastic metal (e.g. http://www.weicon.de/pages/en/products/adhesive/2c-adhesive/plastic-metal/weicon-f.php) and it works fine.

Thanks for all the info ... I'll try to track down some Weicon Plastic Metal F as this looks like an easy DIY solution.
