Took the left rear rim off my car as the valve stem had a slow leak. When I wanted to reinstall the wheel a day later, I could not get the lugs to properly "bite". On further inspection it looks like the opening on the hub leading to the tread holes are misaligned. What happened and how do I fix this??? Thanks for the help.

You appear to be missing the screw that indexes the end of the axle shaft to the brake disk. you can get it back together by releasing the parking brake and turning the brake disk to align with the holes or insert a phillips screwdriver in one of the holes and pry it over. I am sure the screw is still available from Mercedes.

Thanks for the advice. Will check with Mercedes.
