Title: Rear axle pivot pin and bushing
Post by: cfm65@me.com on April 30, 2016, 18:14:31
Hi Gents,
Is it possible to install the rear axle pivot pin and associated metalistic bush without dropping the complete axle? All my rubber joints and bushes seem to be in good condition, except for the metalistic bush.
Regards
Chris

You can but you will be fighting it the whole way because of the center axle spring tension, the body, and the lack of room. You will also be unable to correctly position the carrier because the measurement for fore and aft alignment is taken horizontally from the top of the carrier-The body of the car makes this impossible. But you might be able to get it close.

THK Tyler and thnks Hans,
Point taken. I did this job many years ago on a 190SL, but cant remember the detail.
I'll drop the rear end in due coarse.
