I have a 1964 SL230 Pagoda and I need to bebuild the engine (Crank and bearings / Top end cam and valves). Is there a manual available or diagrams online that show the parts and configuration. Or somewhere I can take it with confidence to have the rebuild work done.

....rebuild the engine.../... Is there a manual available../..
Certainly, all specifications, tolerances etc are in the workshop manual (1959 edition with additions) and the book of tables.
See our Wiki ("Tech Manual") under Documentation, and here:

Hi Rigger
Are you sure it needs a rebuild? Many and most times I have visited owners cars to find set up was the cause of all ills. Have you had compression tested is old pressure pegged at 45 above tickover.
kind regards
John

Here is a link to an engine rebuild guide with lots of technical specs.

Hi John,
Yes I bought it from the USA with this problem in mind. Did the compression tests without plugs in and there is a definite knock from bottom end.

Thanks Dave,
Thats a great start. I believe I will also need information regarding the set up of "6 plunger fuel injection pump".
We don't know how far we will need to delve into things until we get the engine out. Hopefully head and crank (and associated part) is all thats necessary. If you know where to get other relevant information with regard to the engine I'd really appreciate it.
This is a great help.
