http://www.gossipcop.com/mercedes-aa-battery-car-snl-julia-louis-dreyfus-commercial-video-saturday-night-live-watch/
The seemingly ageless and beautiful Julia Louis-Dreyfus was the host of SNL (Saturday Night Live) this past Saturday. Per their normal script, after the [she was the] host monologue, they have a mock commercial, in which nothing is ever held back, and no subject too sacred. This week the Mercedes-Benz AA Class. You just have to watch the entire commercial, if you want a good chuckle...I'm hoping some crazy rules about watching certain content in certain areas doesn't lock our non-USA friends out of this gem...

The tragi-comedic reality here is that some of what they parodied is very close to the truth. For example, these large batteries found in hybrids are generally made up of many hundreds of small cells. http://www.hybridcars.com/hybrid-car-battery/ When your car's computer tells you that the battery has failed, what it's really saying is that X number of cells in the battery have failed and thus the battery as a whole is now insufficient to use. There are a few firms out there that "rebuild" or "refurbish" these hybrid batteries, and they do it by replacing the defective cells. While they aren't AA cells as in the parody, note in the link above that SOME are D-cells!
Do not ask why I know this. Hint: it isn't Wikipedia. :o

Fantastic! I love it, link works fine here in Europe.

Mike,
Thanks for sharing, I put it on my Facebook Page .... Had a good laugh ...
I think I'll keep my two "Benziner" (Gasguslers).

Whoever thought that up obviously has had some experience with the electronic horrors of current day Mercedes-Benz automobiles.

There are electronic horrors, and then there are EV, PEV and hybrid horrors...and it's far from limited to Mercedes-Benz! Seen it on Honda, and Ford, too--but that's just my own experience. The avatar of a wrench showing up on the Nav screen with the note "WARNING: When safe to do so, pull over and stop driving this vehicle" doesn't often happen on fossil fueled cars... ;)

Great video Michael, thanks for sharing.

Very true. 6 volt batteries are just a wrap around 4 1.5 volt D cells. I use a lot of 6 volt batteries in the fall to run my bird squawkers. When a battery stops functioning I open it up and scavenge any of the D cells that are still good for our flash lights.

Some 9 volt batteries are just 6 AAA's in a case. I have actually used them in a pinch.
