I have always appreciated the look of the Early 230-250-280SL MBZ. I decided to sell an old Corvette and buy a state of the art 1970 MBZ. Dark burgundy wth tan interior A/C and an automatic. Pictures to follow shortly. Bryan Hepper

I wont be able to attend the session on April 16. I am in the process of installing a wire harness into a old corvette with some assistance. My Saturdays aren't free until this is completed, Bryan

Bryan, thank you for sharing.
I want to comment on this view; see here that from factory our W113 cars were not finished in body colour underneath.
There is the central plate fastened with twelve M12 bolts; this part is in body colour (Burgundy in this case).
Remainder is a greyish beige tone primer, the body of the SL was dipped in this during the production. A "body schutz" rubber like material was applied to protect the underside, this is what gives the uneven (wrinkled) surface. Not applied in the middle area, around the drive shaft tunnel.
Then you can see dark brown areas, this is factory applied wax which has various shades of ageing.
Body colour was sprayed in from the sides and in the wheel housings when bodywork was painted in the factory. Black was applied at the sides under the doors, below the (black) rocker covers. This was done so when you see the car from the side, you should not see "body colour, black rocker panel, body colour again"

Yes I am sure not everything is period correct. I really wanted a very good condition after fighting with a b=vintage corvette for 15 yrs I want something that was more or less completed, My father actually had a 1970 sedan so I was somewhat familiar with the undercoating. This car had it completely removed. I will research after sometime and do my best to keep it correct.
