Hi everyone - longtime since i posted.....phew...i wish i hadn't fallen in love with these pagodas.....anyway.....cosmetically my car is now 95%...mechanically (and i am no techy) the "big ends and mains" need replacing...does this mean i need an engine rebuild....other than a tune up i've had nothing done to the engine.....anyone know of an independent engineer who will actually take on a classic merc engine near Nottingham/UK...or i could have the engine taken out and shipped somewhere....any advice much appreciated.....damn cars!
Oh yes...would the big ends and mains "going/banging" necessarily justify the expense of an engine rebuild?....Also it just 'stopped' the other day - engine was revving but not pulling with oil pouring out from under car....was told by recovery man it was "gearbox oil".....dear oh dear oh dear....
Thanks guys..Im off to get some therapy !

Thanks Rolf-Dieter!!

If you have automatic transmission it may not be that bad. A loose fitting on the transmission may cause the big leak and it will not move anymore. It happened to me a couple of times.

You've had 10 call backs in one year!? :o ;) ;) ;)

The kind of joke that can easily get misunderstood without context Dan!
No comebacks.

Uh......... I figured at least three winks ought to have done it but maybe I should have used a few more. OK, here goes.......... ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
That should cover any misunderstandings, I hope.
I figure you probably know more than I would over a large general area covering many different fields as I know nothing about aircraft. I also figure we'd make a formidable team if we were to join forces. :)
If I lived in your area and couldn't do the work myself, I would certainly have you rebuild my engine.

Thanks Dan,
The respect is mutual.

+1 for Stick. Mine is one of the 10. Indeed, looking forwards to putting some more "running in" miles on it over the next couple of weeks
If you need it trailering to Richmond, call Mel Spear at Flying Blue Dog.

Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat. I spoke to the SL shop yesterday who gave me the contact details for the garage that does all their rebuilds.
The company is MJA Engineering - Contact Martin 01527-880081.
Cheers......Mark
