Title: did I disturb the injection pump timing while removing tach drive?
Post by: erickmarciano on March 29, 2016, 01:51:47
Hi guys could I have disturbed the injection pump timing while removing the tach drive?
It was really hard to remove and as I was trying the chain moved < head is off> .
by the chain moving could that disturb Injection timing? I am able to move the distributor by turning the gear one way the other way It does not move , I suspect it moves with the crank
Thanks

Should not have moved.

The only way the intermediate shaft to crankshaft relation would have moved is if the chain jumped a tooth on the intermediate shaft. This is not possible unless you removed the bolt/pin on the engine block. This bolt/pin is on the front, and side of the block at the 3 o-clock position in relation to the distributer drive housing. It also secures the power steering pump bracket.  It keeps the chain from leaving the intermediate shaft sprocket.
