I have a 230 SL. I am trying to replace the engine with a rebuilt 280 engine but I would like to keep my 4 speed manual trans. Some friends told me I will need to balance the 280 engine with the 230 four speed manual trans.
Please, I need some advice on how to correctly instal the 280 engine in my 230SL using my original 4 speed manual transmission.
Thanks
Alfred

Hello Alfred,
As long as your 280 engine had a manual transmission also, you should have no problems. If the 280 had a automatic then you have a little more work ahead of you. Let us know.

You still did not answer if the 280 engine was built for (came with) an automatic or manual transmission.
EDIT
For some reason, this was answered in a different thread. Please don't do this, it makes discussion hard to follow.
