An easy question to which I do not know the answer. Are the two (they are off white) outside brake fluid reservoir caps (the one with wires coming out of them on 280SL's) suppose to have a rubber gasket or some form of washer under the cap to seal them when screwed closed or not? I can't find a picture anywhere that answers this question so if someone could have a look or knows please let me know.
Many thanks.

The black plastic parts (cylinders) to which the wiring is attached has a groove on their perimeter, in this groove goes a rubber seal ring (O-ring).

Hans, I am not sure that is the same reservoir. The caps I am talking about are the bottom two you see in the picture below. I'm not sure if there is an o-ring or rubber gasket that goes up inside the cap. Ignore the reservoir you see in the picture, I am talking about the 3 cap type with those white caps on each end and a black cap in the middle.

You wrote "the one with wires on 280SL´s"; so that type is what my reply refers to

No there is no washer or o-ring on the 2 caps. They are just there to hold the electrical float housing down into the reservoir.

Thanks Tyler. Saves me from having to look for washers or o-rings.
