Title: un polished wind shield wipers
Post by: Michaelg on February 05, 2016, 15:58:15
Whats the best way to recondition my wiper brackets. My paint is in very good shape and the wipers are tired looking.

Remove them and have them nickel plated would be the correct repair. You can also prime and paint them with a matte silver paint and they look very close to original. Finding replacements is pretty much luck at this point. There are a few floating around on e-bay once in a while.

In order to keep your wiper brackets original you should get them finished to the same finish as your rear view and side view mirror. The three should have the same finish I learned from a Judge in Verginia in 2013

Yes Dieter. The matte nickle finish would be the correct finish on the OP's 1970 if it is a USA model.

Don't forget the horn ring Dieter, it should also match.  Tyler, I think the finish is satin chrome. It seems harder than nickel and also does not tarnish like nickel.
