Title: Coffee and Cars
Post by: hands_aus on December 05, 2015, 20:21:27
Saturday I was at a Coffee and Cars event attended by any/everybody with their special car.
There was an unknown-to-me 280sl that, upon inspection, showed to be in very good condition.
During a chat with the owner, I asked him what sort of economy the car gave....he said he had no idea as he had driven it only 100 miles in the last 3 years.
He also pointed out that he owned a 74 v12 E type Jaguar.
I didn't ask how many other cars he owns as I formed the impression he wasn't really interested in talking about the Pagoda as he meandered off taking pics of cars.

I thought I had found a potential new SL Pagoda Group member..........

Bob,

There are a couple of W113 owners in Melbourne like that as well. Don’t quite know why they own them.

I feel sorry for the Pagoda's ... They so love to be driven .... Mine has seen 8,464 miles in the past 2 years 7 months and 3 days :) (the last owner only drove her some 4,000 plus miles in 22 years ... Let's see that be around 182 miles  year .... Pity those people justdont know hat they are missing).

Mine is now sleeping under a warm cover, however, when the roads are nice and dry this winter she gets a little workout. And fun it will be.

Gerry, enjoy your summer drives down under :)

Rick,

My Bucket Lists are for seeing and doing, not owning.

Rolf Deiter you certainly beat me in Pagoda milage, I have only done 6000 miles in the last 4 years, then again I have also been driving the Kombis about 12,000 miles in the same time as well :o :o 8)

I've driven 10,000miles in the 5 years of my ownership. Previous UK owner did 3000miles in 19 years. Some years only doing 50 miles to get his MOT renewed. At least he did the right thing and sell it to someone who treats her right.
Problem may arise when my project car is ready......partially why I am in no hurry to finish as I don't have room for both ;D
