Hi all - -
Just had to post this. California plates had yellow letters on black background from 1963 to 1969. They are now available from CA DMV.

It really pops! I like it! I wish Florida offered this service. I was able to buy a NOS from a collector, sent it to Tallahassee for authentication. They added a reflective material to the lettering so as to bring it up to spec.

Looks great!!
Since my cars live in California, I've ordered a set about 5 weeks ago for the one that does not have California Black Plates. If approved, they should be ready in about 6 weeks. We will see.

Looks great Larry! Always thought the "Black" plates looked best. I have ordered a set for our '15 C300 with the same letter/number sequence (plus an additional "1" at the end) as our SL's original plates. Only live about 20 miles from Folsom Prison (where the plates are stamped) so hope my wait won't be too much longer :D

Looks great, I really like your colour scheme too, looks like the way I'm going to go on mine. Is it 173 anthracite? What is the code for the interior?
If you don't mind me asking of course....

Hi Larry,
it says-it-all, but what happened to the old one?

I had to come back to California this week and timed it just right as the Black Plates I had ordered were finally ready. These will go on the 280 as the 250 already has black plates. Was quite surprised to find that "pagode" was available in California.

Wow! Felicitations!

Most excellent!! I checked a while back (don't remember how long) and they were not available. I wasn't interested but I was just curious, I checked PAGODA and (at the time) it was not available.

Pa now allows you to use a plate from the year the car was made so I found a 1966 plate for mine. It looks better than the antique plate they now have. A few years ago they came out with the plate with an unknown vintage looking car.

Looks good Brad. Maybe it is just me, but these cars just seem to look better with their original plates :)
