Post by: Madmerc on October 07, 2015, 22:16:24
hi all I have just bought this 1964 230sl it looks like the previous owner had changed over the  injection pump as it came with a spare in the boot, the problem is that there is 2 wires going to the solenoid but on this solenoid there is only 1 grub screw for 1 wire what do I do with the other wire is this  normal . on the other injection pump solenoid there is 2 grub screws .I tried swapping over the solenoids but they are different shape . any suggestions thanks

On the earlier pumps the solenoid has two connecting wires, one power and one ground.  On newer pumps the solenoids have one terminal grounded through the frame of the solenoid. pump body, and engine, with only one power wire.

You probably just need to figure out which of the two wires is power and connect that to the solenoid terminal.  Then tape up the remaining ground wire.
