Title: Brake Fluid Reservoir Removal
Post by: Raymond on September 21, 2015, 02:11:04
Can anyone suggest a good method of prying the brake fluid reservoir off of the master cylinder without breaking it?   I don't know the age of the reservoir.  I last had it off the car 11 years ago.  I've pulled and pried on it with a fair amount force but the grommets won't let go.  I'm worried if I exert too much force I'll crack the tank or break out a nipple.

You could try a bit of heat. It does come off, of course, but they can sit on there pretty tight. It's obviously far easier to do off the car.

I use a trim removal tool that has a "Y" or "V" shaped end and pry it off.

I recently did this using a long flat screw driver as a lever under/next to the grommets, popped right off.
