Hi,
I have a pretty good memory and I remember when I rebuilt my engine 15 years ago there was a red "C" shaped paint stamp or marking on the right (passenger for LHD) side of the engine block. At that time I really didn't care about originality and simply painted over it but in the meantime the engine is getting ready for a detailing and re-installation and I was wondering if anyone had seen this red "C" mark and could post a picture?

I think I might have figured it out. Since the block was primered red I bet the mark I saw was where it was clamped into the fixture when it was painted.

I just painted my engine, I also noticed a bright red mar about the size of a thumb print on it. it was more red that the undercoat. I have many pics taken so ill see if it shows up in the pics and if it does will send you one,

Is this the mark you are talking about. It was a much brighter red than the primer on the engine

That's the one! Now I know where to look.
