Title: Fixing screws on door hard pockets
Post by: rjfurlan on July 30, 2015, 20:50:16
Anyone have any luck fixing broken screws on door hard-pockets? I broke two taking them off.
1) They look like riveted eye bolts.
Anyone know a source for these?
2) I also had trouble with the screws attaching the arm rest.
Anyone know a source for the screws and countersunk washers?
I think I can get the screws, but the washers?

I can help you with the washers if you cannot find any nearer to home.
The ones I have are not genuine MB parts they are stainless steel used in the aircraft industry.
I would require the OD and ID as I have several sizes.

Hi,

I have made a few of these screws by welding a lock washer to some 5 mm(I think) threaded studs.
Or do a Google for DIN 444 screws which is what they are called, I believe, and you might be able to locate a supplier nearby.

Thanks,

@tel76, using aviation in my search produced lots of results for thentinnerman washers. Thanks.

@hans, i found some at home depot that might work. Thanks.
Did you rivet them? I gues I need to buy a rivit gun. I am assuming I will need metric? I also need to rivet the door cards.
Any suggestions on rivet gun?

Rich

Hello Rich,
You may have to purchase more than you require, if you send me an address and how many you want I  (or my wife will)  put them in the post, you can have them FOC.

I could only find 3/4" washers so I made my own. You need

1 pack 10x1 fender washers
1 m5 countersunk screw and nut
8mm, 9mm, 10mm, 11mm sockets
Hammer
