Title: Found these near car
Post by: al11 on July 28, 2015, 09:20:12
hello everyone,
I found these on the floor not too far from my 1969 280 SL auto. Any idea where it could be coming from?
I did an oil change last week and and I had my auto transmission rebuilt a few months ago.
The bolt appears to have been shortened.
Thanks

I would check that they have not come from your drive shaft rubber coupling.

This is not a metric bolt! Therefore most unlikely to be an factory used fastener.

One of the bolts that hold the transmission plate to the frame?

Thanks for all the input.
I am still looking, most of the stuff under the car is greasier and let's stay not as dry as this bolt. The brownish tint of the bolt and its dryness is very similar to bolts that are closer to the exhaust system. How many holding brackets  is the car supposed to have for the muffler. I see 3 right now.
thanks
