Title: Throttle Link Support Cracked
Post by: Mike K on July 22, 2015, 22:04:51
Fiddling and tinkering around on the car I noticed that there appears to be a crack in the throttle link support.
The part seems to be NLA. I'm thinking that the best way to repair this is by brazing it?

Has anyone ever come across this?

Thanks,
Mike

I would just buy a second hand one, there should be plenty around.

Yowza, never seen this before. Will take a closer look at mine.

I wonder if someone banged too hard on the throttle shaft in an attempt to pop out the ball nested in the casting? Normally, not much force is required. But if it were never lubricated, maybe it was seized. I wouldn't try to braze the bracket because you do not know if it is now out of alignment. That will cause binding. There must be plenty in the salvage yards.

Since it is aluminum,  you cannot braze it. It can be aluminum welded.  You should also be able to find a good used one since this is not an item which frequently fails.

Thanks everyone for the feedback here's an upside down pic with the part number which I'm trying to decipher, looks like: 1290721801

I agree with Wallace, someone must have whacked it hard to pop the ball out and cracked it...

Colin thanks for your assistance.

Best,

Mike
