Yep, parked the 280sl in the garage a couple weeks ago and couldn't get it to start. Got under it and see my automatic transmission linkage has come apart. Anyone recommend a best source for parts? I've many times used Millers and wanted to try a few options.
Glad to see good detail on how to replace. Should I just order the two bushings? Anything else I might need? Good thing it came apart in the garage. Is it just a bushing in the photo below? It keeps falling apart when I go to move it. Want to make sure I get everything I need.

Call the classic center and just get 6. They are cheap enough. You will have some spares so if it happens again you have them. It is about an hour job. Pull the center carpet and remove the shift assembly. You will have an easier time putting in the bushings in the rods on a work bench. If you heat them a little in hot water they slip in easier. Make sure they are in the correct way. They have a bevel on one side of them. You will see it if you look closely. They are very tight...

I buy a lot of parts from Arizona Autohauz.
I agree, buy some extra and it is easier to remove remove the whole linkage and do most of the work on a work bench.
then you only have to complete the linkage / transmission connection on the ground.

I have the part number for the bushings on the transmission linkage but can't seem to locate for the shifter itself. I see there are 2 two o ring type bushings. Anyone have the part #. Taking the opportunity to replace my chipped shift insert and have the shifter (which was bent) re-chromed. Too bad you can't run over to the store and buy parts.
