Title: Chrome pieces on the roof any one added them?
Post by: Rolf-Dieter ✝︎ on June 14, 2015, 19:08:03
I like to add the chrome strips to my roof. I think the Pagoda looks so much more like a Pagoda with the roof on.

The photo below is the one that was spotted in Paris some time back, it looks so great.

My Questions are: has anyone here added the chrome strips to his roof? Were the chrome strips hard to find? Was it difficult to install?

Has to be done from underside of hardtop.  Unless you want to glue them on?

This has come up before. It may be a lot more trouble than it's worth unless you have your hard top reduced to its elements.

They can be found on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191296969946?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Myself, I bought a chrome strip like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Durable-3m-Silver-Car-Chrome-Styling-Decoration-Moulding-Trim-Strip-Tape-22mm-/111169585929 and cut it to fit. Looks ok, but of course not for the purists  ;)

Rolf-Dieter,
you might want to read Gernold's article here: http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Tops/HardTop
Unless you want to restore your hard top this beautification will set you back a lot. 50 hours shop time!  :o
