Hi all! Since I removed the ac, I don't see any need for the ac compressor. IT, now makes a loud noise. What can I do to eliminate The noise?
Can I just bypassed The compressor  with eliminating The belts.? What does IT entails to do this? All The help will be appreciated.
Thanks.  Dan

I had that problem once and removed the belts which were only loose in that case. I went about 3 blocks and the engine started to over heat. All of the belts are connected in such a way that they run the water pump and alternator.

Thanks! IM just glad a conversation is starred. What I mean is replacing belts, bypassing the ac compressor. Can IT be done? How easy or difficult The job will be? Thanks.

At the moment, I don't have an AC car to look at, but you might be able to get shorter belts and run them from the crank pulley around the adjusting pulley, bypassing the compressor.  I don't know if the compressor pulley would get in the way, though.

You might check to see if the compressor clutch is getting power.   if there is no power to the clutch, the compressor pulley should spin freely and not make any noise.

To replace belts, where is the best approach? Does the radiator need to be remove?
Any other ideas or recommendations are mor than welcome.
Thank you.
