Hi, I dropped the fuel tank out of my 1967 250sl and I notice it was held on with three sheet metal screws.
The original mounting bolts were cut off and were just small nubs.
I would like to reinstall it in a safer manner than three badly placed sheet metal screws.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I changed out my own tank on my 250SL and was surprised that it was held in with just 3 small nuts. It was hard to believe that Mercedes did not even spring for a fourth nut and bolt. But copying what the factory did is the best course. Just make sure that the filler tube ends up in the center of the hole in the body and does not rub it.
