Can anyone give me the Max timing and at how many rpm for a 1956 220S

Do you have the Bosch # off the distributor?

If you have the standard (8.7:1) compression engine, 31-38 degrees, without vacuum, 4500 rpm.

My other car is a 1959 220S.
