Title: Neutral Safety Switch
Post by: Jimb1231 on May 07, 2015, 14:09:14
Recently I'm having trouble starting my car and believe the linkage at the Neutral Safety Switch may need adjustment - assuming that's possible - or, do I need to replace the switch?  If it is adjustable, is there a procedure to re-adjust the linkage?  Currently, sometimes it won't start in Park position but moving to Neutral works. Or, sometimes, applying pressure to the Trans lever in Park will allow it to start.

Jim,

I would suggest that your linkage bushes are warn and causing the problem and need replacing. Its a fairly easy job.  Lots here on the Forum on how to do it just do a search.

William,

You still need to fix your postal address as you will not get the next Pagoda World with an Afganistan address.

And a warning for all others, there were four who did not get their Pagoda World due to incorrect addresses.  Ther were returned to us undelivered.  It is important that your address is correctly input in the Account details area otherwise you will miss out.

After removing the transmission lever shift gate cover, I discovered the top bushing slightly worn and when I removed it to replace it, the bottom one completely separated from the linkage arm.   I replaced it and now the car shifts perfectly and starts perfectly.  This was a worthwhile effort, not expensive, and a relief to restore safe operation.   Many thanks for the information available on this site.

The switch is on the firewall . It has a small lever attached to a cable that  activates the switch, disconnect the ball end of it ,then it can  be adjusted.
