Title: Waiting the big one

This looks like a bad one, almost a direct hit.
Power will probably go out soon.

If it isn't hurricanes it's the damn love bugs. I am so ready for some nice weather!

I just got off the phone w/ my father in Sarasota. He just had a large tree fall on his garage. His 69 280sl is stuck inside and he's hoping to get to Home Depot and get a chain saw and eliminate some of the weight to keep it from collapsing.

He also states that the weather hasn't let up all day. It's not been the wind but the rain that caused two of his largest trees to fall.

Post by: hauser on September 26, 2004, 16:36:57: Dana, the hurricane is about 20 miles south of Brooksville. This one is traveling faster than Ivan did and should clear up sooner. I am in North Cental Florida and it's been raining since early this morning. Trees falling is not just wind related. We've had so much rain here lately that it has made the ground soft and the weight of the trees are enough to topple them over. Many areas are without power and without cell phone signal.

We have been watching the Weather Chanel and listening to local radio broadcasts to stay informed. It seems that the areas most affected have been the coastal regions. The storm did take an unexpected west turn and is now heading north.

This was a bad one, constant winds of 70-75/MPH & gusts of 95/MPH.
Thank God it moved faster then Ivan. It was pretty much over on Sunday morning. No damage to house or cars but power outage of course until today.
Hauser, I've been here 22 years and this was the worst one so far.
Power in my restaurant still not restored so that of course will be a disaster.
