Title: Fuel filter question
Post by: rjfurlan on April 28, 2015, 23:27:32
When I change the fuel filter in a 1967 250sl do i need a new copper washer for the bolt?

Thanks

A good idea, but the washer or the dang gasket are not supplied with the filter (as they are for an oil filter) go figure....

Although is the washer a copper one or an aluminum one?

I believe it's an aluminum one.

I reused it and all seems well, no leaks. Thanks

I would suggest renewing the sealing washer.
Mine started leaking after about 500 miles, on a rally in the middle of Europe  ::)
Very annoying smell in the cab.
