I am reassembling a 280SL engine with automatic transmission for a friend and I am having difficulty figuring out the correct bracket locations. I have three "extra" brackets and the cooler pipes do not seem to naturally lay in any one position.
Please identify the brackets and posting a picture of the correct cooler pipe routing would be appreciated.

Jim,
As a slight diversion; you have the original hose cooler fittings! Don't throw them away. they are reusable.

Hi Jim
pipe for transmission run either side of engine not as shown one running underneath. w111 or w113 parts manual will show layout. Use sls-hh.de for pictures
Kind regards
John

John .... I checked out the SLS site but it did not offer anything new. The car has air conditioning so that the right side cooler line goes under the block and along the left side of the engine (not the normal parts view). In addition, the drawings did not show the brackets.
I think that the bracket with the pipe clamp attaches to the pan bolt under the oil filter. That leaves the support of the pipes near the front of the engine in question.
I also have no idea where the triangle shaped bracket goes or what it supports. The bolt spacing is that of the pan bolts and the grove would fit a casting web of the pan. I suspect that it would go on the right side of the engine but I have no idea of what it is for.

The triangle shaped bracket is used to support the starter motor, you will find a stud on the front of the starter motor and the other end of the bracket with the two holes goes to the aluminium crankcase.

Eric .... It fits perfectly! I knew it fit somewhere around there.
Thanks

Hi Jim,
Here are where the other two go!

Joe ... Again, perfect. This community is magic.
Thanks.
