Title: Muddied in Style
Post by: Garry on March 15, 2015, 05:51:44
I stayed a night at one of our Tasmanian Pagoda Group members, Jack, and was looking at some of his photos of the Pagoda he restored and now has in a museum in Launceston when we came upon a photo he had taken in his younger days nearly 50 years ago as he drove his Pagoda across the Nullabour from the Eastern states of Australia to Perth in the West of Australia.  In those days there was 4-500 miles of dirt road in the 3000 mile trip.

A classic old photo worth sharing.

Garry,

nice one. Good for him he didn't try it without the hardtop.  Otherwise muddy he will be too  ;)

Brilliant photo - no trailer queen here just red mud

Laconic aussie style. He looks like he does it every week. Just a short drive across a continent !

Note also the flared pants & white singlet (no aircon I assume!)

To me, that's what these cars are meant for. Traveling. I do a lot of driving with my car and have encountered my fair share of dirt roads and gravel roads. Not half a continent of them though! I actually kind of like the dirty, dusty, driven appearance my car has sometimes. And then I wash it and it becomes all new again!

A few shots of the trip that took me from DC to Yellowstone a couple of years ago. Not as muddy though:
