I don't recall that the 1963 230SL had side reflectors, as seen here, just behind the right head light. Can you explain, please? Thanks.

Required in Italy and I think maybe France. I believe that are the same side lights as Fiat. My '63 was delivered to Italian dealer & the tail lights are also different.

France mandated yellow headlights from the mid 1930s until 1993.  At that point the rule changed and French cars had to have headlights "projecting yellow or white light...", but they since all went to white.  I did not see any recent french car with yellow lights.
The side markers for the Italian cars were circular.
Also, this car has american headlights.  I do not know whether american Pagodas had side markers in 1963 or not, but I am pretty sure this is an american car.
