Title: Need help with a fuel injection pump

Hello.
I'm looking for a good mechanic shop that can adjust a Bosch fuel injection pump. I have a 1968 Mercedes 250SE and I think the pump injects too much fuel because the engine runs very rich, it produces black smoke, and the oil is contaminated by the gasoline. Local places that service diesels don't want to mass with it because they are telling me that their equipment is only set up for certain diesel injection pumps. So, does anyone know any mechanic shop that could adjust and test the injection pump on a bench ? I would appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

Did you do any checks to see if the pump rack is stuck or the WRD is stuck?

Hi!

It seems to be a problem with the cold start parts f.e. the cold start valve or the thermostat on the f.i.p. You will find hints for testing in the workshop manual.

Thanks for your response. I removed all three covers and the solenoid to look inside for any visible problems. Everything seems to look good, nothing stuck, nothing broken. The parts that I could touch were moving freely. I suspect that at some point someone was trying to do adjustments. So, now I'm looking for an expert in this field to have complete check and adjustment done to the pump.

If the car works correctly earlier its a problem with the two things I mentioned. If this is an older problem maybe an owner turned the wrong screws and disarrange the pump. First you have to check the ignition and the gas linkage. Then make a CO-Test with 3000 RPM. At last you can give the pump to a Bosch-Service, if this is possible in the USA. In GER we have some specialists for the old pumps.
